We experience religion everyday in our classroom. At the beginning of the year we focus on the proper way to make the Sign of the Cross. There is a prayer table in our classroom that we gather around to experience group prayer as well as what it means to pray to God. Every Monday we go to Circle of Prayer with the first through fifth graders led by a different staff member.
Our religion book is the "We Believe" series by Sadlier. Our book covers all the things that God has created for us, and how we should appreciate and care for them. We also talk about the miracles of Jesus, and cover Advent, Christmas, Lent, Easter, Ascension, and Pentecost. Children are introduced to how to pray the rosary, as well as the following prayers: Our Father, Hail Mary, and Glory Be.
Kindergarten attends weekly Mass, and our sixth grade buddies help us to develop proper church habits. Four times a year we are in charge of the ministries at Mass. It really helps them to take ownership with the Mass and understand it better. Church ministries rotate for every Mass, and you will be notified at least a week in advance to help your child prepare.
